Joni Mitchell's Blue is one of the most eloquent and heartfelt albums I have ever heard. Mitchell signifies the epitome of what a singer/songwriter should be; one who is able to completely and originally convey poetic lyrics accompanied by effective and fitting musical textures. With Blue, Mitchell has written 10 fantastic songs, which constantly shift from beautiful piano ballads to upbeat acoustic strumming pieces. Then there's the voice, and oh...Joni's got a good one. After the first listen, you'll immediately be able to understand why Blue is often lauded as being one of the greatest albums of all-time. The music isn't all that complicated and hard to digest like many other classics can sometimes be. Rather, this is simple, beautiful songwriting that you will surely want to revisit many times over.
