RJD2 is both a talented DJ and producer. His music integrates elements of hip-hop, rap, soul, and cleverly selected audio
samples into a vibrant collage of sound. His second LP is Deadringer, which shines with many examples of great mixing and
clean-cut production. RJD2 bursts into this musical foray with the hypnotic opening track "The Horror", serving
as a powerhouse of sampling, thumping beats, and a killer melodic hook. There are so many layers to this music that it almost
forces repeated listens to fully grasp. Many tracks feature guest vocalists who lend RJD2 a hand in adding some soul singing
and articulated rap to the songs. Deadringer has a vast range in tone as well, moving from smooth tunes ("Ghostwriter")
to tracks centered on his fierce and gripping turn-table scratching abilities ("Take The Picture Off"). All in all,
it's a great showcase for the producer/DJ, and is a very solid hip-hop effort.
