Hearts of Oak is electrified, melodious indie rock with hooks and riffs that hit you like an 18-wheeler. Ted Leo follows up
his critically hailed The Tyranny of Distance here with another winner. Ted Leo and his band mix rock, punk, pub, and power
pop to deliver some fantastic tunes that will welcomingly stay in your head for hours after they music is turned off. While
not flawless (with two relative "duds" compared to the rest of the bunch), Hearts of Oak can effortlessly be listened
to and admired from start to finish. It is Ted Leo's hard-hitting vocals that are particularly essential to this success.
Both impassioned and enunciated, Leo packs a punch with his great voice on an abundance of great tracks. The Pharmacists back
up Leo with just as much passion. Hearts of Oak may take some time to acclimatize to, but the rewards are well worth the time
put in. This is flat-out, feel good music.
