Touch & Go

TV on the Radio is one of the most original bands that I have come across in recent years. Over the past 50+ years, rock has been laid out in various fashions and many sonic territories have been explored. As a result, many inventions in rock's sound have been exhausted, making it harder and harder for bands to create a unique sound. With their debut LP, TV On The Radio has inventively discovered new musical territory, with a gripping mix of post-punk, doo wop, and experimental rock. No other band that exists today or has ever existed sounds like TV On The Radio. Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes is an ambitious album that, with every listen, both fascinates and perplexes me. Tunde Adebimpe, who formally went to NYU specializing in stop-motion animation, leads this Brooklyn-based band. Praised by noteworthy critics, and with David Bowie as one of the band's biggest supporters, the future for the band looks very promising. If you want to hear something inertly different that will surely stand the test of time, check out TV On The Radio.
