Hearing TV on the Radio's major label debut for the first time is quite a surreal experience. The album (named after a level
from Super Mario World) brings their characteristic fusion of post-punk and experimental rock sound to a new level. The album
kicks off with a wall of diverse sound and abstract time signatures that make up "I Was a Lover" that will surely
throw you for a loop the first time around. Songs like "Province" (David Bowie lending some backing vocals here)
and "Dirtywhirl" feature swirling and hypnotic melodic lines and fantastic lyrics. Tracks like "Let The Devil
In" are basically just an onslaught of captivating and forceful noise. The album closes with a pair of highlights, including
the beautiful harmony of "Tonight" and the anthemic "Wash The Day". Despite its ambitious nature, there
are still a couple of tracks that are a bit more of a chore to listen to than actually being melodically enjoyable ("Playhouses",
"A Method"). All in all, TV on the Radio succeeds presenting another brilliant body of musical work that continues
to show that they truly sound like nothing else out there.

Key Tracks:
I Was a Lover
