Damon Gough is the sole mind and musical talent behind Badly Drawn Boy. The Hour of Bewilderbeast is Badly Drawn Boy's first and most notable album. It can be classified as lo-fi indie folk-pop, but assigning it such a genre does not do justice to explaining the diverse sound of Gough's music. Gough's mellow vocals are accompanied by slide and acoustic guitar, string orchestration, piano, percussion, and some other interesting sampling and instrumentation. With this culmination of musical elements, Gough creates many melodic and catchy songs that fill the majority of 18-tracks. This album shares similarity to Beck's albums, in its dense, rough sound, and consistently well-crafted tunes. If any of this interests you, you might want to check this one out.
