Parklife is Blur's varied 16-track outline of British life in the mid-90s. The album takes us through so many different genres that it's absurd, including synth-pop, Brit-rock, punk, and psychedelia. This template of musical styles gives us an incredibly diverse album, tied together by Blur's knack for great songwriting. It definitely takes a while to warm up to this album as a whole. Tracks like "Tracy Jacks" and "Magic America" provide some accessible material for anyone who has already warmed up the sounds of Brit-pop. However, the kinetic new wave "Trouble In The Message Centre" and the appropriately titled "Far Out" took me a few listens to get a solid grasp of. With Parklife, Blur released one of the best albums of the 90s, and single-handedly earned themselves a concrete position in the British rock history books.
