I first discovered this two-member band when I saw them open for Ben Folds in Rochester, NY a few years ago. The Ghost of Fashion serves as a diverse showcase of what Clem Snide has to offer. The songs range from alt-country to grainy rock to acoustic ballads to experimental sampling pieces. The duo really hits the nail on the head with the climactic "Moment In The Sun", which is intended to make fun of Jewel and her short-lived burst of celebrityhood. Eef Barzelay is the man behind the music, and the man who lends his great slacker vocals to all of the songs. His fine lyrics are also something to be mentioned, adding much more to the musical value of each piece. Despite a couple of misfires ("Long Lost Twin", "The Junky Jews"), this album is filled with an impressive amount of good songs.
