Elvis Costello's My Aim is True is considered by many as one of the greatest debut albums ever by a singer/songwriter. But calling it a rock record comes nowhere near describing the unique culmination of musical genres that are going on here. Costello's music mixes pub-rock with punk, along with some touches of reggae, in a way that has rarely ever been done before. Costello himself plays guitar and delivers unique vocals that can slightly be compared to Randy Newman, but definitely have a sound of their own. He is backed by his band Clover, who compliments him very well here (The Attractions wouldn't back him up until future releases). My Aim Is True really is all killer no filler, with each classic song being just as catchy as the next.
