Blood on the Tracks shows Dylan triumphantly returning to his prime form in the 70s, after almost a decade of somewhat lackluster releases. In some ways, this album was a return to form, with exceptionally written acoustic ballads filled with Dylan's trademark lyrical style. However, it was also much more insightful and emotional than his previous classics. Part of this might have been a result of the recent breakdown of his marriage. While this may seem discouraging for someone who wants to give this album a try, do not let this sway your preconceptions at all. This is an absolute masterpiece for Dylan, and ranks among his very best (some consider it to be his best). Every track is instantly gripping and warrants numerous listens. So go to your nearest record store and pick this one up right away, you won't regret it.
