Mark Oliver Everett (who goes by the name "E") is the singer/songwriter behind Eels. E lends his lyrical and musical
talents in this epic 33 track musical endeavor. But more importantly, he lends his heart to each and every one of these emotionally
resonant songs. The overall purpose of the record is to serve almost as a lyrical photo album of E and his familial and relational
history. Songs range from heartfelt piano ballads to zippier rock tunes, all of which led by E's grainy, Beck-esque vocals
that are both somber and affective to the listener. It is hard to believe how many well-executed songs are packed into this
double-disc. As a listener and admirer, it's both impressive and involving, and should be given much time to be fully explored
from start to finish.
