With Demon Days, Gorillaz paints a vivid picture a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by clans of monkeys and surviving humans. The majority of the album is very experimental, with Damon Albarn lending his lazy, grainy vocals to the album's far-out sound. Demon Days ranges from twisting alternative segments to interjectory splashes of hip-hop. It's so hard to define the style of this music, but in terms of mood, it is both morose and optimistic. Moreover, it's a concept album that has to be listened to from start to finish to fully appreciate. The fascinating and engrossing soundscapes that span the album are rarely seen in today's music, and should definitely be checked out.
