Madman Across the Water stands among one of the best works by one of the most prolific musicians of the 20th century. Despite being a bit front-loaded, it's debatable that it's one of the greatest Side A's in rock history, treating us to the unforgettable "Tiny Dancer" and "Levon" that prove to be irresistible sing-alongs after a few listens. However, a couple of tracks weigh the album down a bit such as "Indian Sunset", which is a lengthy orchestrated song about Native American subject matter that seems out of place on the album. But with some epic songs that will keep you coming back, Elton more than makes up for it. As much praise that John's other classic albums get, I feel that this is really where the best stuff is.
